The situation
FactoryThread was originally procured to connect Aptean ERP, the Siemens brownfield connector into InfluxDB, and later Opcenter X MES, so that data could reach Power BI.
Power BI needed data in a specific shape, which meant the reporting effort kept falling back to developers and data engineers to reshape it first.
Integration and analytics work is normally owned by IT developers and data engineers, which puts every new question behind a queue.
What they did
Connected Aptean ERP, the Siemens brownfield connector to InfluxDB, Opcenter X MES and Power BI as one thread rather than a chain of point integrations.
The FactoryThread product team built analytics inside the platform, so Flows, complex calculations and visualisation happen in one place instead of being staged for a downstream BI tool.
Applied the FactoryThread Assistant so business users could describe what they needed instead of writing transformation code.
Set warnings on the integrations themselves, so a silent data silo surfaces as an alert instead of quietly blocking an outcome.
What changed
The business team was able to do the integration, the calculations and the visualisation themselves.
IT kept the role that matters to them — access, governance and security — without becoming the bottleneck for every question.
Integration warnings keep data silos from blocking outcomes, because a broken feed is visible the moment it breaks.
