The existing planning engine kept — the missing visualisation built around it
Rather than rip out the advanced planning capability already inside their ERP, FactoryThread integrated with it and built the visualisation and what-if scenarios the team had been doing in a spreadsheet.

The situation
The customer did not want to rip and replace an ERP that already had advanced planning capability built in.
What the ERP lacked was proper visualisation and what-if analysis, so planners fell back to a spreadsheet to do that work.
Buying a second scheduling platform is hard to justify when the platform you already own nominally covers the scope.
What they did
Integrated FactoryThread directly with the ERP instead of displacing its planning engine.
Used AI-assisted development speed to quickly build an app delivering the visualisations and what-if features the planners needed.
Kept the system of record where it was, and closed the gap in both data and experience around it.
What changed
Planners get visualisation and what-if scenarios in a real application rather than a spreadsheet, without a new scheduling platform purchase.
Platforms bought off the shelf are built generic for many customers; FactoryThread plugs the gaps in data and experience so the specific outcome gets delivered.
Value arrives first — which is what lets a manufacturer decide later whether to consolidate systems for total cost of ownership or to differentiate on a new platform.
